What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce
In the publisher's original blind stamped dark cloth bindings.
These volumes are first editions.
This is a complete two volume set, part of Lardner’s Cabinet Cyclopaedia (Natural History) series.
Illustrated with numerous engravings and an engraved title page.
The work explores the biology, habits, habitats, and classification of fishes, amphibians, and reptiles, referred to as “Monocardian animals”, now an obsolete term.
Volume I lays out the foundations and classifications, while Volume II expands on additional species and details, combining natural history observations, with systematic taxonomy before modern evolutionary theory reshaped biological classification.
