Bound in half calf, with marbled boards. 

Undated, dated from a copy held institutionally. 

With very scarce illustrations from original drawings by J. A. Gilfillan and J. Johnstone. With six plates, one of which is folding.

'The Pilgrim's Progress' is a significant Christian allegory written by English Puritan and preacher, John Bunyan. 

Regarded as one of the most important works of theological fiction, the entire book is presented as a dream sequence, and follows the protagonist of Christian and his journey from the "City of Destruction" to the "Celestial City". 

Condition

In half calf binding, with marbled boards. Externally, smart. With rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Slight fading to the spine. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the occasional spot, heaviest to the first and last few leaves. Folding plate has a few closed tear and is worn to the edges.
