An important work of military history by Colonel John Gurwood. This renowned work provides a comprehensive history on the miliary career of the Duke of Wellington, the British army officer and former Prime Minister of the United Kingdom who is notable for leading the British army during the Napoleonic wars. The work covers his military career starting in 1799 with his early campaigns in Holland, his most notable acts as the general officer during the Peninsular War and the Waterloo campaign, and his last military commands in Paris up to 1818. 

The work was compiled from many official documents. 

Bound in half calf with marbled paper to the boards, and gilt tooling to the spines. 

Condition

Bound in contemporary half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Externally rubbed to the extremities of the boards, spine and joints, the odd minor mark to the boards, and to the spine to ‘Vol 10’, and very small closed tears to the leather to the head of the spines to five, and loss to the head of the spine to ‘Vol 13’. Front joint starting very slightly to the head of 'Vol 2 and 12'. Closed tear to rear joint to 'Volume 11'. Internally firmly bound with bright and spotting to the front and rear, only the odd spot otherwise.
