An early edition of Pickering's anthology of the poetical works of Samuel Taylor Coleridge.

This collection includes Coleridge's best known works including 'The Rime of the Ancient Mariner', 'Wallenstein', 'Christabel', and some of his lesser known pieces, such as 'Alice du Clos', 'The Knight's Tomb', 'A Day Dream', 'The Happy Husband', 'Destruction of the Bastille', and more.  

Samuel Taylor Coleridge was an English poet, literary critic and philosopher. He founded the Romantic movement along with his friend William Wordsworth, and is one of the most important figures in the history of English poetry, as both a poet and a critic.

Bound without the half-titles.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, worn, backstrip the backstrips. Front boards are detached but present. Rear joint and hinges of Volumes I and II are strained, starting to Volume III, rear board of Volume I is held by cords only. Rubbing to the boards, resulting in a small amount of loss of leather. Minor bumping to the extremities. Prior owner's ink inscription to the recto of the front endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Text up to page 32 in Volume II is detached alongside the front board.
