1836 Novum Testamentum [Greek New Testament]
What Our Customers Say...
Description
Fine Binding, Leather Binding
An 1836 edition of The New Testament in Greek, in full black morocco with gilt engraved lettering to the spine and a gilt fore edge.
This is a beautifully bound leather copy of the Greek New Testament, printed according to the Eusebian Canons, a system of cross-referencing the four Gospels created by Eusebius of Caesarea.
Here, the Gospel texts are divided into numbered sections and into ten tables (the ‘canones’) to help readers find parallel passages across the different Gospels. This system was used for centuries before the creation of modern chapter and verse numbering.
Contains an ink inscription from 1909 to the front free endpaper.
Condition
