Published originally in 1830 in French.
Illustrated with a folding map frontispiece, and twenty-six plates, with further vignettes. Collated, complete.
With the bookplate of Gent. Aylmer to the front pastedown, and of Francis E. B. Witts, a Church of England clergyman and amateur bell-ringer, to the rear pastedown.

In 1846, de Laborde was made curator of the Louvre Museum of Antiques, and in 1857 director-general of the archives of the Second French Empire.
Condition
In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to joints, with light rubbing to back strip and board perimeters. Bookplates to pastedowns. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd handling mark.
