William Yarrell's best known work, being a descriptive study of British fishes. The works cover two hundred and twenty-six species of fish, with descriptions for each covering their natural history, anatomy, eating habits and more. Each species is represented with a detailed engraved illustration by the author.

In the publisher's original cloth. Externally lovely. The odd spot to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages, with the odd spot, heavier to the front and rear.
