The second Paris edition of this work, published in the same year as the first edition. All Paris editions of this work are scarce.
A record of a tour by American author Washington Irving and his nephew, John Irving Treat, of the southern Great Plains in 1832. They were accompanying Indian Commissioner Henry L. Ellsworth and his party on a tour.
With a former owner's inscription to the front free endpaper.
A smart and scarce early edition of this work by the author of 'The Legend of Sleepy Hollow'.
Condition
In a half calf binding, with marbled paper covered boards. Rubbing to back strip and boards, with small loss of leather to back strip tail. Front joint starting, but firmly held. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with spotting throughout and with tide marks to head of pages 27 to 112.
