The first edition, complete in ten volumes. This set is very scarcely found complete.

The work of scientist Charles Frederick Partington, who did much to teach and popularize scientific and technical subjects among the working classes. 

This ten volume set is divided into four works:

'The British Cyclopaedia of Arts and Sciences', in two volumes, published in 1835. Illustrated with thirty plates to volume I, and twenty-six to volume II.

'The British Cyclopaedia of Literature, History, Geography, Law and Politics', in three volumes, published in 1836. With vignette illustrations throughout.

'The British Cyclopaedia of Natural History', in three volumes, published between 1835 and 1837. Illustrated with twenty plates to volume I, seventeen to volume II, and eleven plates to volume II.
 
'The British Cyclopaedia of Biography', in two volumes, 1837-1838. With vignette portrait illustrations throughout each volume.
