A very scarce first edition thus.

Edited and compiled by Alfred Howard, this is a very scarce collected edition of the poetry of Dryden, with selections from both his poetry and his prose works.

Illustrated with an engraved frontispiece.

John Dryden was an English poet, literary critic, translator, and playwright who in 1668 was appointed as England's first Poet Laureate.

With a former owner's inscription to the recto of the frontispiece.

Condition

In a full calf binding, with gilt detailing to back strip and board perimeters. Externally, excellent. Inscription to recto of frontispiece. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned but clean, with light handling marks to title page.
