First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce
A first edition two volume set in half calf bindings. Ink inscription to the title pages of both volumes. Perhaps the authors own signature though it is hard to read. In these two volumes, Lieutenant W. Bowers recalls his naval adventures around the world and his acquaintances among notable seamen, over thirty-five years of service. It also provides some autobiographical details of his childhood and family.
Condition
In half calf bindings. Externally sound, with shelf wear to the boards, and rubbing to the extremities. Backstrip lifting from the rear joint and from the tail of the front joint to Vol I. Splitting to the front joint of Vol II, and starting to lift slightly. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout.
