What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Rebound, Very Scarce

The first edition of this very scarce work.

An interesting study on America in the early part of the nineteenth century.

The author, James Boardman, here recounts his travels across the country, starting in New York, moving on to the Mid-Atlantic, then heading north to Canada. In his preface, Broadman states that he hopes the perusal of this work would disabuse the British public of their prejudiced towards America and its people, in particular in these decades after the American War of Independence.

Two pages of adverts after page xvi.

Eight pages of adverts to the rear, dated January 1833.

Condition

In rebacked paper covered boards, with a modern spine, and renewed endpapers. Externally, generally smart. Bumping to the extremities, resulting in a little loss of paper. A few light marks and light rubbing to the boards. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean. Publisher's adverts to the rear are a little age-toned.
