The Pilot, A Tale of the Sea (1833), one of the earliest examples of nautical fiction in American literature, telling the story a naval pilot during the American Revolution.
The Pioneers, of The Sources of the Susquehanna (1835), the first of five novels which became known as the Leatherstocking Tales.
Lionel Lincoln, or, the Leaguer of Boston (1837), a tale set during the American Revolutionary War, in which Lionel Lincoln discovers the split loyalties in his family and friends to the American colonies and the British homeland.
Condition
Uniformly bound in quarter calf. Externally, generally smart, with a little rubbing and fading to the spines and bumping to the extremities. Front hinge to 'The Pilot' is strained but held firmly by cords. Front hinge to 'The Pioneers' is slightly strained but held firmly by cords. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with the odd spot throughout.
