Henry Nelson Coleridge was a writer and barrister, best known as the editor of the works of his uncle Samuel Taylor Coleridge.
In 1825 he accompanied his other uncle, William Hart Coleridge, the bishop of Barbados, to the West Indies, describing his time there in this lively travelogue. Within, he discusses his excursions to Barbados, Trinidad, Grenada, St. Lucia, and Antigua among other regions, with one of the last chapters dedicated to his views on planters and abolition of slavery.
Condition
In the publisher's original boards. Externally, hinges have failed, with text block and boards separate. With darkening to the boards and particularly the spine. Norfolk and Norwich Library bookplate to the front board. Split to the head of the front joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright and clean, with minor offsetting and light spotting to the endpapers.
