    The first edition from A. J. Valpy, complete in fifteen volumes.

    A wonderful set presenting the complete poems and plays of Shakespeare, encompassing all of his tragedies, histories, comedies and sonnets.

    Illustrated with plates after the Boydell Shakespeare: fourteen plates to volume I; fifteen to volume II; eleven to volume III; sixteen to volume IV; fourteen to volume V; thirteen to volume VI; fifteen to volume VII; fifteen to volume VIII; twelve to volume IX; ten to volume X; seven to volume XI; eight to volume XII; eleven to volume XIII; eight to volume XIV; three to volume XV.

    Collated, complete.

    Edited by A. J. Valpy and with a life and glossarial notes.

    Condition

    In full calf bindings. Volume XIV rebacked, with back strip laid down. Gilt detailing to back strip. Light rubbing to joints. Tail of front joint of volume II starting, with board firmly held. Head of front joint of volume III, XI starting, with board firmly held. Joints of volume XII, XIII and XV starting, with boards firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd spot and light offsetting to pages facing plates. Light tide marks to head of four frontispieces.
