The first extended edition, featuring the fifty original plates from the 1829 edition, and fifteen new plates.
Illustrated with sixty-two etched plates. Collated, lacking plates 22, 7 and 14, but has all fifteen additional plates exclusive to this edition. The engraved title page and illustrated list of plates are counted as plates, with only the new list of plates not being counted as a plate. Plate of the Prussian Snow bound as a frontispiece.
A fantastic collection of plates from Edward William Cooke, the noted British artist, created when we was only eighteen years old. The work features a series of plates depicting a range of ships, such as oyster boats, hay barges, a Dutch galliot, a fishing boat, as well as fifteen additional plates which depict the Cliffs of Dover, a mackerel boat and more.
Dated as 1829 from the original title page, but dated from the plates as 1831.
Bound in full modern crushed half morocco with marbled paper to the boards. Endpapers and blanks renewed.

Bound in full modern crushed half morocco with marbled paper to the boards. Externally lovely. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Internally, lacking three plates, otherwise firmly bound, with minimal age toning, light handling marks, occasional light spotting and the odd minor tidemark to the extremities.
