Illustrated with a frontispiece, four engraved plates, and further vignettes. Collated, complete.

This anthological work lists and describes useful inventions, improvements, discoveries and new facts in numerous fields such as mechanics, chemistry, natural history and social economics.

It also features a list of the patents granted in the year 1830.

Including discussion of Cooper's rotary fire engine, a new cash register, blood preservation, distillation of nitric acid, marine vegetables as food, and how the snail forms its shell.

With eight pages of advertisements to the start of the work.

Condition

In the publisher's original cloth binding, with rubbed spine label to back strip. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with light cockling to boards. Front hinge strained, and somewhat tender. Rear hinge strained, with board firmly held. Lacking the front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
