What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Rebound
The first edition of this work. An excellent candidate for rebinding.
A work of scientific anthropology by Sir Walter Scott, who was fascinated by the supernatural from childhood. This work examines, demonology and witchcraft, as well as ghosts, fairies, brownies, elves and mythologies.
Illustrated with a frontispiece.
This was written as a result of financial pressure after Scott suffered a stroke in February 1830, and had significant debts. Rather than composing a new novel, his son-in-law, J. G. Lockhart, suggested he publish a work drawing on his extensive knowledge of antiquarianism and the occult.
Rebound, lacking endpapers. Retaining half title. Lacking the advertisements to the rear.
An unusual work from the author of the Waverly novels.
Condition
