A historical account of the Battle of Waterloo, 1815, given by French General Gerard, regarding the controversial actions and decisions of the Marquis de Grouchy.
In this important campaign, Grouchy failed to keep his lines, with many accusing him of holding back his men on purpose, leading to Napoleon being overwhelmed at Waterloo. Gerard is said to have advised Grouchy to march to the emperor's aid, although this did not happen.
Illustrated with a folding map. Collated, complete.
With an ink inscription to the title page.

Bound in quarter calf with marbled paper-covered boards. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to leather and the odd mark. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Title page is age toned, with an ink inscription to the head. Remaining pages have been washed, with the odd spot.
