What Our Customers Say...
Description
First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce
The first edition of this very scarce work.
Half-title is present.
A riveting and uniquely penetrating study on dueling, providing brilliant insight into the culture around dueling in nineteenth century Britain. This is a manual on dueling, presenting the rules of duels, as well as a "Royal Code of Honor". The author also includes anecdotes from principals and seconds who have partook in duels, describing the causes, as well as the dangers faced by the participants.
At the time when this work was published, duels were still being fought across the countries when quarrells turned sour, though at this period it was declining in popularity, due to public pressure, rather than the threat of legal action.
By Joseph Hamilton.
