The first edition.
An account of the seasons of 1821 to 1827 at the King's Theatre, Haymarket, now known as His Majesty's Theatre.
At this time, the theatre was under the management of the author of this work, John Ebers. During this time he premiered seven of Rossini's operas. Ebers presentes an entertaining account of life at the theatre, with behind-the-scenes insight during a hayday of theatre popularity.
Illustrated with a frontispiece, and five plates, all portraits of opera singers. Collated, complete.
Condition
In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, a little rubbed. Front hinge is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with scattered spots. Tidemark to the first and last few pages.
