'A History of the Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus' is a fictional account of the life of Christopher Columbus, and is considered one of the first examples of American historical fiction. The work was one of many attempts at nationalistic myth making by poets and authors of the time, and is an early example to perpetuate the flat earth story. Washington Irving was a noted American writer and historian, with this being one of his best known works.

Condition
Bound in half calf with cloth to the boards. Externally, rubbed to the extremities and joints, slight fading to the spines, and slight marks to the boards. Spotting to the endpapers. Internally firmly bound with bright pages, and generally clean pages with spotting to the front and rear. Tape re-enforcement to the half title.
