Illustrated with a folding map to volume II. Collated, complete.

'A History of the Life and Voyages of Christopher Columbus' is a fictional account of the life of Christopher Columbus, and is considered one of the first examples of American historical fiction.

The work was one of many attempts at nationalistic myth making by poets and authors of the time, and is an early work perpetuating the flat earth story.

In the publisher's original cloth backed, paper covered boards.

Retaining half titles.

In the publisher's original cloth backed paper covered boards, with paper spine labels. Handling marks to boards. Back strips age toned. Bumping to back strip head and tail. Volume III front joint head and tail starting, as are joint heads of volume IV, with boards firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedowns. Lacking front free endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages exceptionally clean and bright.
