Francis Moore's almanack for 1827, the first edition. An astrological almanack which ran in Great Britain since 1697, still published annually by W. Foulsham & Company Limited, it contains weather forecasts, astrological observations, tide tables, and more. Written in red and black, with blank sheets bound in between each leaf in protection.
Moore was a self-taught physician and astrologer working at the court of Charles II.
Condition
In the original publisher's full decorative calf binding, with intricate gilt tooling to the spine and boards and gilt to the edges. Externally generally sound with minor shelf wear and rubbing to the leather, minor loss to the head and tail of the spine. Both front and rear boards are loose but present. Thomas Basil Duguid's bookplate to the front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. With previous owner's annotations to the blank pages, otherwise the page are generally bright and clean throughout.
