Bound in half calf.

A collection of four novels, each complete in three volumes.

All novels are first editions, with the exception of 'The Spy'.

This set features a collection of works by the American author, James Fenimore Cooper, including the novel that launched his career, 'The Spy' . Cooper was best known for his historical romance novels featuring colonial and native American characters.

Included in this collection are:

'The Borderers', the first UK edition, published in 1829.
'The Prairie', the first UK edition, published in 1827.
'The Bravo. A Venetian Story', the first UK edition, published in 1831.
'The Spy. A Tale of the Neutral Ground', the fifth edition, published in 1835.

'The Borderers', 'The Prairie' and 'The Bravo' are all very scarce works in this edition.

A wonderful collection of novels from this popular nineteenth-century American author.

With the half title retained to volume II of The Prairie.

Condition

Bound in half calf. Externally, very smart, with light rubbing to the extremities and boards, and the odd mark. A few spots to endpapers. Front hinge a touch strained, but holding firm to volume III of The Spy. Half title retained to volume II of The Prairie only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with just the odd mark.
