What Our Customers Say...

First Edition, Leather Binding, Uncommon
The first edition.
Bound in quarter leatherette with cloth boards. Endpapers renewed, retaining the original half title.
In this critical examination, General Gourgaud counters the narrative presented by French General and historian Count Philippe-Paul de Ségur regarding Napoleon's approach during the 1812 Russian campaign. Gourgard draws upon his personal experiences and first-hand diary accounts of the war to provide his own take on the situation, challenging many aspects of Segur's account.
Ultimately, the difference of opinions between Gourgard and Segur, as well as the unfavourable view of Napoleon portrayed in Segur's account, eventually lead to a duel, during which Segur was wounded.
With a fifty-four page appendix to the rear.
