Illustrated with an engraved map frontispiece, and with twenty-four mounted hand-coloured aquatints of views of the Pyrenees.

Author Joseph Hardy describes an early 19th century journey through the scenic French Pyrenees, providing insights and observations into the local population and government, providing recommendations into the best mineral baths and views, and describes in detail the impressive scenery he encountered.
Endpapers renewed.
Thorold notes that this work was "a great success," and was later translated into French.
Sarah Prideaux in 'Aquatint Engraving: A Chapter in the History of Book Illustration' considers this work as "among the most beautiful to be found in aquatint engraving".
Condition
In a full morocco signed binding by Sangorski and Sutcliffe. Boards vibrant, with back strip age toned as is common with morocco of this shade. Endpapers renewed. Internally, firmly bound. Spotting to frontispiece and light offsetting to title page, with pages otherwise exceptionally clean and bright.
