    First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

    First edition. Very scarce work. A collection of writings on life, knowledge, and wisdom, from eminent authors and thinkers including: Sir Walter Raleigh, Lord Burleigh, Sir Henry Sidney, Earl of Strafford, Francis Osborn, Sir Matthew Hale, Earl of Bedford, William Penn, and Benjamin Franklin. With lives of the authors. This work is intended for the attention of the young, in the earnest and affectionate hope that they may not merely be read for the amusement and passing of time, but be meditated on at leisure.

    Condition

    Bound in full calf. Externally, smart with light rubbing and minor fading to the extremities. The odd small mark to the boards with a small crack to the rear joint. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with light scattered spotting. The odd small closed tear to the front endpapers. Contemporary ink inscriptions to the title page. One of the rear endpapers has been neatly removed.
