The second edition of this very scarce work.

Illustrated with a folding plate to the frontispiece, and one folding plate. Collated, complete.

In this work, Henry Palmer details the early developments of railway, looking at the railroads which had been hitherto constructed, and how they could be improved.

Palmer was a civil engineer who designed the world's second monorail, and the first elevated railway, which is described in this work.

Twenty pages of adverts to the rear.

Condition

Bound in paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart. Light bumping to the extremities, lighter bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Minor marks to the boards and spine. Light rubbing to the joints. Spots to the endpapers. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright with scattered spots to the first and last few pages, and to the plates. Light edge wear to the plates. Loss to the margin of page 11/12, with no loss to text.
