What Our Customers Say...

Description

Illustrated, Original Binding, Publishers' Original Binding, Very Scarce

Very scarce work. Illustrated with a frontispiece, title vignette, and three plates. Collated complete. A record of the voyages for the discovery of the North-West Passage, being the sea lane between the Atlantic and Pacific oceans through the Arctic Ocean, near the northern coast of North America via waterways through the Arctic Archipelago of Canada. For centuries, European explorers, beginning with Christopher Columbus in 1492, sought a navigable passage as a possible trade route to Asia, but were blocked by ice or by rough waters. This volume contains records of the attempts between 1821 and 1825. Bound by S. Curtis.

Condition

In the original full cloth binding. Externally, smart with minor rubbing and light bumping to the extremities. The odd small mark to the cloth. Front hinge tender. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright with the odd small spot or handling mark. Bound by S. Curtis.
