A detailed study exploring the principles of moral and political philosophy with chapters on moral obligations and relative duties, duties to ourselves, duties towards God, and political knowledge. This work was considered one of the most influential philosophical texts in late Enlightenment Britain. Written by William Paley, an English Anglican clergyman, Christian apologist, philosopher, and utilitarian best known for his natural theology exposition of the teleological argument for the existence of God in his work 'Natural Theology or Evidences of the Existence and Attributes of the Deity'.

Condition

Bound in full calf. Externally, sound with rubbing and minor bumping to the extremities. Fading to the spine with the odd small mark to the boards. Cracks to the joints. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are very bright and clean with light spotting to the endpapers. Contemporary ink inscription to the front endpaper.
