'The Pirate' is a historical novel by Walter Scott, set in Shetland around 1700. This novel is roughly based on the life of the notorious pirate John Gow.
The novel was received with a wide variety of opinions, with some critics thinking it was the best of the Waverley novels, and some saying it was the worse.
Written by English author, Sir Walter Scott, who is best known for his historical novels and poems, including 'Waverley', 'Ivanhoe', and 'The Lady of the Lake'.

Condition
Bound in half calf with paper-covered boards. Without half titles. Externally, sound, with rubbing to boards and extremities, heavier to joints. A little loss to the head and tail of the spine to volume I. Joints are cracked, with hinges strained. Front board to volume III is tender, holding on by a few cords only. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and clean, with the odd mark to the first and last few pages.
