Description

Leather Binding

An English prose translation of these two comical Ancient Greek plays by Aristophanes.

'Plutus' was first produced in 388 BC, and is a biting political satire on contemporary Athens.

'The Frogs' was performed at one of the Festival of Dionysus, Lenaia, in 405 BC, winning first place. This comedy features the katabasis of Dionysus in order to try and revive Euripides.

Eleven of Aristophanes' plays survived in almost their entirety today, though he wrote a total of forty plays during his career.

Two pages of adverts to the rear.
