The first edition, second state, without the comma to the third line of the publisher's imprints to the title pages, as called for for the first state. 

A four volume complete set. 

Sir Walter Scott's longest novel, set in seventeenth century England, and concerning the Popish Plot, Scott's novel follows the adventures of Julian Peveril, a young man caught up in a web of political intrigue and personal rivalries.

The errata leaf does not appear in volume III. Bound without half titles.

Condition

Bound in contemporary half calf with cloth to the boards, Endpapers and blanks renewed. Bound without half titles and errata leaf. Externally faded to the spines, with slight rubbing to the extremities, and marks to the spines, and slight marks to the boards. Internally firmly bound with bright and clean pages.
