The 1822 sixteenth edition of 'Paterson's Roads', the work of Edward Mogg, a publisher and cartographer known for his maps and travel guides to London and other localities in England, Scotland and Wales. 

With 'an entirely new set of maps', this edition features a folding map frontispiece, and seven further folding maps.
Collated, lacking one folding map.

Former owner's inscription, dated 1892, to the front free endpaper.

Mogg's publications were so widely used in the nineteenth century that they appeared in works of fiction including Robert Smith Surtees' 'Mr. Sponge's Sporting Tour', and Shirley Brooks' 'The Naggletons'.

Condition

In a cloth binding, with paper label to back strip. Bumping to back strip head and tail, with significant handling marks to cloth. Rear joint starting, with board a touch tender. Head of front joint starting, with board firmly held. Inscription to front free endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages bright, with the odd spot and handling mark. Significant closed tear to frontispiece.
