Collated, complete.

A concise early work on railways, discussing the establishment of an iron railway from London to Edinburgh. 

By Thomas Gray, a railway advocate who made enormous contributions to the growth of passenger railway systems across the world. 

Bookplate of F. J. Haut to the front paste down. Haut was the author of works on electric locomotives.

Stamp of J. C. Inglis to the front paste down. Inglis was a civil engineer who worked on viaducts built by Brunel.

Condition

In the original paper covered boards. Externally, generally smart, a little rubbed with light marks. Light bumping and loss of paper to the extremities. Crack to the tail of the front joint. Minor bumping to the head and tail of the spine. Bookplate and stamp to the front paste down, pencil inscription to the recto of the front endpaper. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Frontispiece is working loose. Chip to the margin of the title page, with no loss of text.
