First published and performed in London in 1821, this blank verse tragedy is set in Venice in the year 1355.
Marino Faliero having has been recently elected as Doge of Venice, with the drama following Faliero through a failed coup d'etat and his subsequent execution.
Rebacked, with endpapers renewed.
A scarce first US edition of Byron's work.
Condition
In contemporary marbled half calf paper covered boards, rebacked in cloth. Endpapers renewed. Externally, excellent. Internally, firmly bound. Pages significantly age toned due to paper type, with instances of spotting and light handling marks throughout, most concentrated to first and last few leaves.
