This work was extremely popular with over 80,000 copies and 19 editions sold in Buchan's lifetime, it was one of the most popular medical texts of the eighteenth century.

Bound in full cloth with a leather spine label. Endpapers and blanks renewed. Externally, light marks to the boards, with a small closed tear to the head of the front joint, and slight wear to the extremities. Internally firmly bound with bright pages with occasional minor handling marks and tidemarks to the index to the rear. Owner's ink signatures with slight loss to the tail of the title page, with tidemarks to the tail of the first few pages.
