Illustrating with a folding hand coloured map frontispiece to each volume.
In these works, author William Adams recounts the major global voyages undertaken between 1806 and 1820.
Volume I covers voyages in Africa, volume II in Asia, volume III in America, and volume IV covers voyages in Europe.
With half titles to volumes I, II and III.
With four pages of publisher's advertisements to the rear of volume I.
A very scarce work offering detailed insight into major early nineteenth century voyages.
Condition
In half calf bindings, with marbled paper covered boards. Volume IV lacking back strip. Major losses to back strip head and tail of volume II, and small loss to tail of volume I back strip. Volume number spine labels lacking to volumes II and III. Front board of volume IV tenderly held by one cord only. Joints starting, with boards firmly held. Internally, firmly bound. Pages a touch age toned, but generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
