A vanishingly scarce French volume on the anatomy of the horse, an interesting work on zoology. Only one copy is held institutionally, at the Biblioteca de la Universidad Complutense de Madrid.

Illustrated with twenty colour plates and one monochrome plate. Collated, complete. Engraved by the Willaume brothers, Joseph and Francois.
The plates in this work show incredibly detailed drawings of horses and their anatomy, a brilliant reference work for any artist.

Condition
In a half morocco binding with cloth to the boards. Externally, generally smart, a little rubbed with some marks to the boards. Loss to the tail of the spine. Tail of the front joint is lifting. Light bumping to the extremities. A small amount of cockling of cloth to the front board. Prior owner's ink inscription to the front paste down. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned with scattered spots, including spots to the endpapers. Very small scorch mark to the monochrome plate, resulting in a very small amount of loss to the caption. Prior owner's pencil notes to the plates.
