What Our Customers Say...

Description

First Edition, Leather Binding, Very Scarce

First edition. Very scarce work. A collection of historic and narrative poetry, containing titles such as: 'The Widow of Crescentius', 'The Wife of Asdrubal', 'Night Scene in Genoa' and others, which feature the female-centric domestic and romantic themes often explored by Hemans in her work. Written by Felicia Dorothea Hemans, an English poet (who identified as Welsh by adoption), regarded as the leading female poet of her day. Hemans was immensely popular during her lifetime in both England and the United States, being second only to Lord Byron in terms of sales.
