What Our Customers Say...

Description

Scarce

Scarce. Collated, complete. Rebound in quarter morocco with gilt lettering. Miles Bland's Geometrical Problems is a first edition. Anthony Nesbit (1778-1859) was a schoolmaster and land surveyor. Nesbit's books had a considerable reputation in their day, especially in the north of England. Miles Bland (1786–1867) was a mathematician. He was ordained in 1810 and became rector of Lilley, Hertfordshire, in 1823 and a prebendary of Wells Cathedral in 1826. Bland wrote both mathematical works and biblical commentaries. His published mathematics consists mainly of textbooks and books of problems, for use at both school and university level. He also produced books of exercises in geometry, mechanics, and philosophy. His biblical studies resulted in the publication of commentaries on the gospels of St Matthew (1828) and St Mark (1829).

Condition

In a half morocco binding with marbled boards. Externally very smart. Internally the pages are generally bright, with the occasional handling mark, mild spotting and a couple of small stains. There are some closed tears that have been professionally repaired.
