Illustrated with a frontispiece, and numerous vignette illustrations throughout.

English Anglican clergyman and a man of letters William Dodd first published this anthology of excerpts from Shakespeare in 1752, with passages chosen from his comedies, histories and tragedies.

Dodd was hanged for forgery in 177, at Tyburn.

Retaining the original half title.

Condition

In a tree calf binding, with gilt detailing. Areas of rubbing towards front board tail, with rubbing to tail of front joint. Small loss of calf towards back strip tail. Internally, firmly bound. Pages clean and bright.
