A brilliant novel by Alain-Rene Lesage, in which the reader follows the adventures of a young man name Cherubin de la Ronda.

The novel sees Cherubin travel through Spain, as he falls into a series of episodic adventures, exploring the society and people of Spain. 

By Alain-Rene Lesage, better known for this picaresque novel 'Gil Blas', with which 'Le Bachelier de Salamanque' shares similar themes. 

Half-title to Volume II. Bound without the half-title to Volume I.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, generally smart, a little rubbed. Discolouration to the boards. Spine of Volume I is faded. Small chip to the tail of the spine of Volume II, and a small puncture mark to the rear joint. A few light marks to the boards and spines. Front hinge of Volume I is starting but firm. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are lightly age-toned and generally clean with scattered spots. Volume I is bound without the half-title.
