The best known work of the eighteenth century clergyman and writer, James Hervey, featuring his 'Meditations Among the Tombs' and 'Contemplations of the Night', sharing the author's thoughts on subjects such as creation, the heavens and winter. The work was inspired by Robert Boyle's 'Occasional Reflextions on Various Subjects'. This volume also includes an account of the life of the author. 

Lacking front free endpaper.

Condition

Bound in half calf with marbled paper to the boards. Externally sound with rubbing to the extremities, joints, and boards, rear joint tender, and cracking to the spine. Lacking front free endpaper. Internally firmly bound with lightly age toned pages with spotting throughout.
