With a charming contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown, dated 1822.
With a frontispiece and vignette to the title page.
This work contains a broad selection of essays, poems and plays from Anglo-Irish writer, Oliver Goldsmith.
The essays include discussions of topics such as love and friendship, education of the youth, and Quack Doctors.
With notable poems included here, such as 'The Vicar of Wakefield' and 'The Deserted Village', and two plays, being 'The Good-natured Man' and 'She Stoops to Conquer'.
Condition
In half calf binding with marbled boards. Externally, very smart, with rubbing to the extremities. Contemporary ink inscription to the front pastedown. Internally, generally firmly bound, with the title leaves loosening but attached. Pages are generally bright and clean, with the odd spot to the endpapers and a bookplate of one Bryan W. J. Hall to the front free endpaper.
