Lardner's works were first published in eleven volumes in 1788. Complete sets of Lardner's works are very scarce.
With a portrait frontispiece to volume I.
Larder was a prominent Presbyterian minister and theologian in the eighteenth century, and is perhaps best known for mounting the argument that the New Testament does not teach that Jesus or any element within him pre-existed Mary's pregnancy.
Including sermons on various subjects, tracts, and an index to volume V.
With the bookplate of L. H. Langston, Sarsden, to the front pastedown of each volume.
Inscription to front free endpaper of volumes II and V.
Condition
In full calf bindings, with gilt detailing to back strip, and blind tooling to board perimeters. Light rubbing to joints, and back strip heads and tails. Head of rear joint of volume I and IV starting, as is tail of front joint of volume I and V, with boards firmly held. Bookplates to front pastedowns, with an inscription to the front blank of volumes II and V. Internally, firmly bound. Pages lightly age toned, with instances of spotting to first and last few leaves of each volume, but with pages otherwise generally clean and bright.
