Leather Binding

Comprising the Church services, a table of proper lessons and psalms, the orders for morning and evening prayers, and other orders for services such as baptism, as well as prayers for particular uses and days. 

Bound in a full straight-grain morocco. 

This copy contains several charming contemporary ink inscriptions, including a family record beginning with ones James Williams and Mary Barwell, married 1874. These inscriptions have been tipped in to the front pastedown and front and rear endpapers. With a 'For the Sacrament' inscribed by previous owner to the first blank page to the rear. With two further inscribed passages, one tipped in to the second rear blank and one loosely inserted.

Condition

Bound in full straight-grain morocco. Externally, with rubbing to the extremities and marks to the boards. Front hinge is at risk of detaching fully with further handling. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are generally bright, with occasional scattered spots, heaviest to the first and last few leaves. With a 'For the Sacrament' inscribed by previous owner to the first blank page to the rear. With two further inscribed passages, one tipped in to the second rear blank and one loosely inserted. With tipped-in inscriptions to the front pastedown and both endpapers.
