Based on a series of lectures delivered by Sir Humphry Davy at the Board of Agriculture between 1802 and 1812, this work represents one of the first attempts to apply chemical science systematically to agriculture.
In this work, Davy explored the chemical composition of soils, manures, and plant nutrition, examining how elements such as nitrogen, carbon, and lime influenced crop growth.
Illustrated with ten folding engraved plates.

In a full calf binding, with rubbing to back strip, joints and boards. Head of front joint starting, with board firmly held. Bookplate to front pastedown. Internally, firmly bound. Pages generally clean and bright, with only the odd spot.
