Eugene Labaume, a French officer and topographical engineer who served under Napoleon, provides a detailed eyewitness account of the Grande Armée’s 1812 Russian campaign.

The narrative describes the army’s advance, occupation of Moscow, and subsequent disastrous retreat, including scenes of starvation and death.

Condition

In a half calf binding with marbled paper to the boards. Externally, smart. Light rubbing to the boards and spine. Minor bumping to the extremities. A few light marks to the boards. Small chip to the spine label. Bookseller's label to the front paste down. Spots to the fore edge. Internally, firmly bound. Pages are bright and generally clean, with a few scattered spots. Neat repairs to the folding maps.
